Condition Grading Guide for Used Items

  • Lext Condition Grading Guide (Brass & Woodwind Instruments)

Buying a pre-owned instrument online can feel uncertain, so Lext uses the grading scale below to describe condition as clearly as possible.
Please review the written description and detailed photos for each listing. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

    Rank S / New

New / unused condition. These items are basically in the same condition as when we sourced them from the manufacturer (unused / not previously owned).
They show no signs of use, and we do not perform additional cosmetic polishing beyond light handling checks.

    Excellent

Outstanding used condition with very minimal signs of use.
Minor cosmetic marks may exist, but they are small and not prominent.
No notable dents, and keywork is in very clean condition overall.

    Great

Very good used condition with light, typical signs of use.
May have small scratches, minor lacquer wear, or light marks from normal handling.
Any noticeable cosmetic points (e.g., small dings, scratches) will be shown in photos.

    Good

Used condition with clearly visible signs of wear.
Scratches, lacquer wear, discoloration, or small dings may be present.
The instrument is still suitable for use, but cosmetic condition is a lower priority.

    Important Notes
