One of the major changes is the neck, which has been greatly improved and now features a G1 neck specially designed for the YAS-62. The neck octave key is more stable and heavier than the simple design of the previous models, and a plate with the "G1" engraved on the body of the neck has been attached, giving the impression of a heavier and more cohesive sound. The overall bore (diameter) has also been enlarged to give it a more modern volume and resistance feel.
